1
Q
Phenotype
A
The observable characteristics of an individual usually resulting from the interaction between the genotype and the environment in which development occurs
2
Q
Genotype
A
The genetic constitution or makeup of an organism with respect to the alleles under consideration
3
Q
Dominant
A
The allele which influences the appearance of the phenotype even in the presence of an alternative allele
E.g. AA or Aa, A is the dominant allele
4
Q
Recessive
A
The allele that influences the appearance of the phenotype only in the presence of another identical allele
E.g. aa
5
Q
F1 generation
A
The generation produced by crossing homozygous parental stocks
6
Q
F2 generation
A
The generation produced by crossing two F1 generations
