Why are Choleliths (gallstones) X-ray transparent?
b/c they are cholesterol based
Pathogenesis of Cholelithiasis?
- 2º to chronic, mild cholecystitis & distrubances of the resorbtive activities of the bladder
- bile salts are removed faster than the stone-forming compounds
Etiology of Gallbladder Obstruction
Inflammation → cholecystitis, pancreatitis
Causes of Acute Cholecystits?

- Rift Valley Fever = rumis
- ICH = dogs

edema

acute Salmonellosis → S. enteritidis, serotype dublin

- prolonged bacT infection of the biliary tree
- ongoing irriation from choleliths or gallbladder parasites

Neutrophilic (suppurative) cholangitis
Etiology of neutrophilic cholangitis?
ascending bacT infections from the GIT

Lymphocytic Cholangitis

- inflammatory cells at the periphery of the bile ducts
