Case 1: Equine castrated male, 27yrs. Wound on the lateral side of the thorax involving the skin. Myiasis. Long curly hair. Mass at the base of brain on pars intermedia.
Cushings. Pars intermedia = adenoma. Pressure on hypothalalums = hirsutism.
Case 2: Equine, percheron, F, 7yrs. History of colic, colic impaction palpated. Massiv gastric reflux (bloody) Abdomenocentesis revealed serosanguineous fluid. PCV = 1. TP = 4.5. Tx with fluids banamine, detonidine, butorphenol. SI dark gray black and about 5 times the normal thickness. Firm. Irregularity of thickening. Defect in the serosa that communicated there was a small perforation. Distended with gas Ileum: dilated and full of feces. Adrenal Gland: Lots of cortical hemorrhage in cortex. Cortical necrosis. Kidney: dilated renal pelvis, focal necrosis of renal crest.
Colic and stress → adrenal lesions. Not sure what caused the colic or perforation. Could have been strongylus valgaris. Lack of hydration from not drinking could have caused impaction. Dx not clear.
Case 3: Feline siamese male neutered 15yrs old. History of dyspnea. Dx with hyperhtyroidism and cardiobyopathy 1 week ago. Came in having been vomiting with pronounced resp. distress and tachypnea. Displayed mild pneumothorax. Radiography: diffuse interstitial lung pattern. Lucid line underneath heart (heart lifting off sternum. Echo: restrictive cardiomyopathy. Cardiac arrest. Tx with supportive care, Lasix +enalapril + Tapazole. Necropsy: Left thyroid gland: nodular and tan. Enlarged with multiple unilateral nodules. Heart: enlarged with apex slightly flattened. Wall thickness and hypertrophy of wll contricting the lumen of left ventricle. Lungs: nodules on luminal surface. Matastatic in pattern.
Nodules on lung ended up being cholangiocellular carcinoma. metastasized to lungs → heart Dz.
Case 4: Canine Lab Retriever, male castrated, 8yrs old. Presented with a 3 mo history of progressive weakness and ataxia. Depressed mentation, seizures and tremors, tetraparesis. Glucose: 33. Insulin: 51 (norm – 25). Pass on the pancrease.
Mass = insulinoma (confirmed)
