What is off-duty employment?

Aka: Secondary employment

The practice of members providing approved services, in an off-duty capacity, to public and private employers external to the PD. The services may be law enforcement related or not.

What are law enforcement services?

Answer 2

Performing police services will include providing security, vehicle/pedestrian direction or control, or providing any other services that require use of PD equipment and uniform, or the exertion of their pixies authority

What is a sworn officer?

An employee who has satisfactory completed the prerequisites established by the VA of DCJS to be DCJS certified as a LEO and has taken an oath of office pursuit to the Code of VA to uphold the laws of the Commonwealth of VA and the city of VB.

WhT is a PPO?

Employees currently undergoing academic training in the police academy or field training in the PTO program who have not yet completed the prerequisites established by DCJS to be certified as a LEO

What is an animal control officer?

They are not DCJS certified LEOs but have the powers to enforce state and city ordinances enacted for the protection of domestic animals

What are ancillary employees?

Are not DCJS certified by LEO but perform law enforcement community service functions and assist in the day-to-day delivery of police services.

May be full time or part time employees of VBPD

Positions include: forensics, CSOs, Marine patrol aides, PDOs, school crossing guards, police chaplains, flight officers
