- Maasai Mara is a national reserve in Kenya.
- Maasai people traditionally earn a living raising livestock, but this can destroy grasslands for wildlife.
- Conservation trusts are working with Maasai to help them make money through conservation and ecotourism projects.
- Economic needs of Maasai are met, whilst allowing wildlife to be conserved.

- Seedbanks - used if plants become extinct.
- Fishing quotas
- Protected areas, eg. national parks.
- Endangered species breeding in captivity.
