It infects the hepatocytes in the liver, multiplying in RBC’s eventually causing them to rupture. Hence anemia
This infection causes profuse, watery stools. Greasy diarrhea can be DX with cysts or trophozoites in feces
Giardiasis
How would you treat a patient affected by Giardiasis?
Metronidazole
This parasitic infection presents with explosive watery diarrhea, onset 1-2 wks post exposure and can be treated with hydration due to its self-limiting characteristic. (can also cause biliary cholecystitis, ect.)
