Fuel System Flashcards
What conditions will the APU fuel shutoff valve close?
APU master knob positioned to OFF.
By pressing the APU fuel shutoff button.
By pressing the APU fire extinguishing button.
Automatically, through the APU fire detection system in case of APU Fire on ground.
What happens when the crossfeed valve is place to LOW 1?
Pump 1 is de-energized and the crossfeed valve is open.
Is takeoff allowed with a fuel imbalance?
Yes, as long as the fuel imbalance doesn’t exceed 800 lbs.
What does the EICAS warning FUEL LOW LEVEL means?
The fuel level has reached 463 lbs. or approximately 30 minutes of useful fuel.
When does ventral tank transfer occur on the EMB145-XR?
When each main tank has reached below 4630 lbs. and 30 seconds, the crossfeed valve is closed, at lease one of the 6 main fuel pumps is working and pressure doesn’t drop below 6.5 psi.
How should the crossfeed valve be selected on a fuel imbalance situation?
Switch should be selected to the LOW side.
Is it possible to transfer fuel between main tanks?
No.
What happens if the selected fuel pump fails?
The remaining wing pumps will start cycling until the pilot select a different pump.
Is fuel crossfeed available without DC power?
Yes, the crossfeed valve is essentially powered.
Can crossfeed and fuel transfer from the ventral tank be accomplished at the same time?
No, the crossfeed operation inhibits the ventral tank transfer.
At what fuel order should you expect to see the ventral tank fuel added?
On fuel orders above 10,470 lbs.
When is crossfeed operation permitted?
During all phases but takeoff’s and go-around’s.
Which tank normally supplies fuel to the APU?
Assuming no crossfeed; the right tank supply fuel to the APU.
When should the crew advice ATC of a minimum fuel status?
As soon as anticipated circumstances may result in landing at the destination or alternate if one is required, with less than reserve fuel.
What is a Emergency Fuel status?
Emergency fuel indicates less than 30 minutes of fuel remaining and will vary based on aircraft specific burn rates, aircraft specific limitations and meteorological conditions. As a quick way to estimate 30 minutes of fuel remaining is by taking your FAR 45 minute reserve number (found on release) and multiply by .67.
