Forces: Speed . Flashcards
1
Q
What is displacement?
A
- Distance that an object moves in a straight line, from the start to finish point.
- Must include the direction of the straight line.
- Magnitude and Size= Vector.
2
Q
What is speed?
A
- Distance the object travelled in a given time.
- Scalar.
3
Q
What is the equation?
A
- Speed= Distance/Time.
- Distance= Speed x Time.
Time= Distance/Speed.
4
Q
What are some key speeds?
A
- Normal Walking Speed: 1.5 m/s.
- Running Speed: 3 m/s.
- Cycling Speed: 6 m/s.
- Depends on several factors: Age, Health, Terrain Conditions, Distance travelled.
- Car on Main Road: 13 m/s.
- Fast Train in UK: 50 m/s.
- Cruising Aeroplane: 250 m/s.
- Speed of Sound in air: 330 m/s.
SPEED OF A MOVING OBJECT IS RARLEY CONSTANT.
