Flight Instrument Systems Flashcards
Timeline to check the altimeter:
24 calendar months
required for IFR
Three gyroscopic instruments:
Attitude indicator, heading indicator, and turn coordinator.
Rigidity in space:
Spinning Gyro remains stable, in its location.
Precession:
outside force tries to tilt a spinning gyro
force had been applied at a point 90 degrees
Attitude indicator errors
Are minor, resulting in less than 5° of bank error and less than 1 bar width of pitch error in a 180° turn
somatogravic illusion happens
somatogravic illusion
falsely makes you feel that the aircraft is in a nose-high attitude.
Instrument tumbling:
occurs beyond approximately 100° of bank or beyond 60° of pitch. With attitude indicator.
Heading indicator:
primary source of heading information.
