Flight Controls Flashcards
Will the multi-function spoilers function in direct mode?
Yes (For roll only at a fixed gain)
What is ATTCS?
How is it Auto Activated?
“Automatic Takeoff Thrust Control System”
Controlled by FADEC
Automatically provides RSV Thrust when TLs are at TOGA and one of the following:
- 15% difference in N1 readings
- One engine failure during T/O or G/A
- Windshear Detection
What is the difference between normal mode and direct mode?
No higher level functions available in direct mode
How is roll controlled?
- Ailerons
- Multifunction spoilers (outer 3 on each wing)
Will loss of airspeed data cause the
flight controls to go into direct mode?
Yes
What is the Avionics Standard Communications BUS (ASCB)?
Provides data exchange between all the FCMs, and with other components of the Avionics System
Will the speed brakes / ground spoilers function in direct mode?
No
High level functions for pitch?
- Gain on airspeed
- Elevator thrust compensation
- AOA limiting
What is the slat/flap extension/retraction sequence?
- Slats extend first
- Flaps retract first
When are the Yaw Dampers engaged?
After power-up of either Hyd Sys 1 or 3
When will speed brakes automatically close?
- Flaps > 2
- Airspeed < 180
- TLA > 70deg
High level functions for yaw?
- Yaw dampening
- Turn coordination
- Gain on airspeed
How many spoilers are on each wing? What are their functions?
- 5
- 3 outer Multifunction spoilers for roll control and ground spoilers
- 2 inboard spoilers for ground spoilers
Can an FCM override pilot input?
No
What is the Controller Area Network BUS?
It is the communications link between the FCMs and the P-ACE units
