  • Bleeding 3-5 days
  • Average blood loss 50-150 ml (~.25 - .5 cup)
  • By day 5, growing ovarian follicle producing more estrogen

  • Proliferative Phase
  • Functional layer regenerates
  • Glands form from functional layer
  • Endometrial blood increases, making it well vascularized again
  • At the end of this phase, ovulation occurs, caused by release of LH into bloodstream

  • Triggered by corpus luteum’s progesterone, endometrium blood level rises more
  • Glands secrete nutrients into uterine cavity
