FFP Vacants Flashcards
IC may implement an interior attack after a risk assessment has been performed based on the following factors?
- Current structural stability
- Any known life hazard
- Size & location of fire
- Verification of safe access to fire area
Paramount concern:
Life hazard & safety of the members involved
A square with an X ?
Vacant bld. 18” x 18”. Lines 2”. Lime YELLOW (not green) . **alongside front entrance
Determination of method of attack, exterior or interior, may have to be made by 1st officer. General considerations are?
ALEN.
- Any known or indicated presence of life in the bld
- location & extent of fire
- exposure problems
- number of units responding to initial alarm
Fire attack plan?
- Life
- Exposures
- Confine
- Extinguish
Most important aspect determining the ‘Initial Attack Strategy’ ie: interior vs exterior?
Structural stability - Initial Attk Strategy
Most important consideration in size up?
Most important consideration in size up - life.
Advantages of ILP?
- fast water
- pumper in position for exterior streams
- equipment on pumper closer to fire
- shorter/faster stretches
- lower engine pressures
- ecc is better position to observe operations & assist
Disadvantages of ILP?
- water supply limited to supply line layout & hydrant supply potential
- may not be possible to attain full pumper capacity
- possibility of blocking out aerial/TL
- if hydrant oos pumper may not be able to proceed to next hydrant
- possible damage to apparatus by falling debris
Usually only officer & __ members are needed for advancing the line into immediate fire area?
2
When stretching lines into exposures for operation into fire bld - __ lines should be considered?
2 1/2” w/ solid stream nozzles
TL: placement into vacant lot. Must be surveyed by ?
Officer & LCC
TL: the boom should not be operated at right angles to the chassis at low elevations. It should be operated at __?
Narrow angles over the front & rear
Vacants: ICP location?
Across the street from the fire bld outside possible collapse zone
When roof has been cut, before leaving the scene, spray “R.O.” - roof open where?
- inside & outside bulkhead
- above hazard marking on front of building
