Primary removal - power off or on?
Performed w/o turning power off.
Two types of primary removal 1. Checking electrical contacts 2. Fire service. What order are they done?
Order in which they are tried is not important.
Checking electrical contacts. If passenger activates emergency stop button will this work?
No. Must have passenger deactivate emergency stop button for ‘checking electrical contacts’ to work.
Primary removal - fire service - will this over ride emergency stop button?
Yes Phase 1 will over ride emergency stop button.
Telephone # of mechanic is required to be posted in the machinery room near the elevator pwr switch?
True
Secondary or emergency removal power must be removed?
True. Dispatch two members to elevator machinery room. Remain at power switch for duration of operation
Machinery room may be located in these 3 places?
- Top of shaft 2. Bottom of shaft 3. Two floors above top floor serviced by elevator
When passengers are removed from a car between floors they should be taken ?
Up & out if practical
Elevator car has a two speed system commonly found in buildings over 10 stories, the following procedures may work:
- if emergency stop button activated have passengers deactivate it
- have members shut power to stuck car & turn it back on again **if car is to restart it will do so w/i 10sec
