Actions
Acts on the central nervous system by binding with the opioid receptors

Adverse Effects
CORNR
1. Central nervous system depression
2. Occasionally - bradycardia
3. Respiratory depression
4. Nausea/vomiting
5. Rigidity of the diaphragm, intercostals and jaw (rare)

Contraindications
BACK
1. Bleeding or bilateral occluded nose within
2. Altered level of consciousness
3. Children under the age of 1 year
4. Known allergy or previous reaction to fentanyl.

- Active Labour
- Previous opiates

Dose
<20kg 1-5 years (initial 25mcg, repeat 25mcg every 10mins as required)
20-39kg 5-12 years (initial 50mcg, repeat 50mcg every 10mins as required)
Small adult/adolescent/elderly/frail (40-70kg) (initial 100mcg, repeat 50mcg every 5mins as required)
12+ yrs - adult (>70kg) (initial 200mcg, repeat 50mcg every 5mins as required)
