Explain MOA of NTG

A
  • Nitroglycerin is metabolized to Nitric oxide (NO)
  • NO produces vasodilation (1* in Venous circulation, though some arterial action)
  • venodilation increases capacitance and decreases pre-load
    • reduces myocardial oxygen demand (Frank-Starling)
    • reduces pre-load
