  • Some medications such as diuretics, betablockers antihisthamines and sleeping pills
  • Contact leses in eyes for a long time

  • Artifical tears to increase moisture
  • Hypromellose eye drops
  • Systane to lubricate

Infective conjunctivitis

A
  • Inflammation of conjunctiva membrane covering white of the eye in eyelids
  • Could be caused by virus or bacteria and is contagious
  • Adults are viral whereas childrens are bacterial

  • Sticky discharge resulting in eyelids sticking together

  • Chloramphenicol which is an antibiotic to treat acute bacterial infections
  • Available as eyedrops & ointment used from 2yr old for 5 days
  • Finish course can be used together with products read leaflet Optrex infected eye drops or Brolene 0.01% w/v eye drop

  • Common eye infection which rims the eyelids it becomes inflammed and swollen
  • Buring soreness or stinging in eyes, crusty eyelashes and itchy eyelids - reoccouring
  • May require antibiotics

  • Check leaflet for details
  • Contact lense shouldnt be worn when person has infective conjunctivitis or using antibiotic eye drops
  • Check for suitability or advise the wearing of glasses
