Extra CARDIAC drugs Flashcards
the 7 paramedic specific drugs listed. pharmacodynamics for catecholamine, alpha adrenoreceptors, beta-1 adrenoreceptor agonist, beta-2 adrenoreceptor
what are the 7 cardiac drugs paramedics can give
adernaline 1:10,000
amiodarone
asprin
atropine
furosemide
GTN
Morphine
what are the pharmacodynamics for catecholamine
this is a non selective sympathomimetic.
agonises alpha- and beta- adrenoreceptors in the cardiac, pulmonary and blood vessel tissue leading to tachycardia, bronchodilation and vasoconstriction
what is the pharmacodynamics for alpha adrenoreceptors
Alpha-adrenoreceptor stimulus increases peripheral resistance, resulting in increased myocardial
and cerebral blood flow during CPR.
what is the pharmacodynamics for Beta-1 adrenoreceptor agonist
this is a positive inotrope (increased contractility), chronotrope
(increased frequency of SA node depolarisation) and dromotrope (increased conduction through AV
node)
what is the pharmacodynamics for Beta-2 adrenoreceptor
this stimulus causes smooth muscle relaxation, notably in the lungs, causing
subsequent bronchodilation, consequently improving ventilation and aiding oxygenation. Also, a
histamine antagonist.
