Adrenaline 1:10,000 (CARDIAC DRUG) Flashcards
What is the pharmacodynamics
what are the pharmacokinetics for adrenaline 1:10000
administration: parental
distribution: plasma protein
metabolized: liver
excretion: urine
what are the indications for adrenaline 1:10,000
cardiac arrest
post rosc circulatory support
what are the contraindications for adrenaline 1:10,000 UPDATED
do not administer when patient’s core temp is below 30 degrees
if the temperature is between 30 and 35 degrees DOUBLE the time period between doses
what are the adverse effects of adrenaline 1:10,000
tachycardia
hypertension
what are the pharmacodynamics of adrenaline 1:10,000
adrenaline is a sympathomimetic that stimulates both alpha- and beta-adrenergic receptors.
Therefore myocardial and cerebral blood flow is enhanced during CPR and CPR becomes more effective due to increased peripheral resistance which improves perfusion pressures
what are the cautions of adrenaline 1:10,000 (UPDATED)- (who is at risk of hypertension)
severe hypertension which may occur in patients on non-cardio-selective beta blockers like propranolol
what is the dosage of adrenaline 1:10,000 during cardiac arrest (shockable rhythm)
shockable rhythm administer adrenaline after 3rd shock and after every other shock (5th,7th,9th etc)
what are the 2 routes of administering adrenaline 1:10,000
IV OR IO
what is the dose for adrenaline during cardiac arrest (non-shockable rhythm)
administer adrenaline IMMEDIATELY every 3-5 mins
what is the initial dosage for adrenaline 1:10,000 during cardiac arrest in an adult
1 milligram (mg) through rapid bolus
how is adrenaline 1:10,000 presented on the road
a pre-filled syringe containing 1milligram (mg) of adrenaline in 10 millilitres (ml)= 1:10,000 ADX
when and why do you give adrenaline 1:10,000 post ROSC
administer carefully within an adrenaline bolus
needed to maintain BP above 100mmHg
ensure this is flushed with 20ml of 0.9% saline
what is the initial dosage of adrenaline 1:10,000 in post ROSC for adults
initial dose= 50 microgram(mcg)
is there a max dose for adrenaline 1:10,000 during cardiac arrest and post ROSC in adults and children
no max dose limit
What is the repeat dosage for adrenaline 1:10,000 during cardiac arrest in adults
1 milligram (mg)
