pt in recumbent LPO drinking water w fluoro; pos for reflux when significant barium regurgitates into esophagus from stomach
compression technique
paddle placed under prone pt to show esophagogastric junction to detect possible reflux
toe-touch maneuver
cardiac orifice observed while pt touching toes under fluoro to show possible reflux
benefit of thick barium
better visualization of mucosal patterns and any lesions in esophagus
