Antigens trigger

Pts typically have

A

chronic, immune mediated due to antigen sensitization

Type 2 helper T cell response (Th2), releasing IL5 (eosinophils) and IL13 (eotaxin, more eosinophil recruitment)

Other atopic cx (allergies, rhinits, asthma etc)
may be a genetic link
