Q

Outline method for measuring rate of enzyme action for catalase

A
  1. Set up boiling tubes with the same vol and conc of H2O2 and another set of boiling tubes with catalase in.
  2. Add equal volumes of buffer to each test tube
  3. Set up apparatus: trough of water, upturned measuring cylinder, delivery tube held by clamp.
  4. Put each boiling tube and another set of boiling tubes with catalase set to 10 - 40
  5. Wait 5 mins
  6. Pipette same volume of catalase to each of the boiling tubes
  7. Attach bung and delivery tube to test tube
  8. Record more oxygen is produced in first minute using stop watch
  9. Repeat and calculate average amount produced
  10. Calculate rate
