How does pollution cause respiratory problems
Air pollution or tobacco smoke can damage nerves and muscles used for breathing . This can cause COPD or lung cancer, asthma.
Also air pollution can weaken immune system making you more susceptible to diseases
How does pollution cause cardiovascular problems
Tobacco smoke and air pollution can damage blood vessels causing blood clots which lead to heart attack and certain chemicals in air causes high blood pressure
How does environment cause allergies
Certain irritants in the air eg dust or pollen can cause allergic reactions eg asthma or hayfever
What is hayfever
When someone is allergic to pollen, it causes sneezing, watery eyes, runny nose, flu-like symptoms
What is asthma
Asthma causes breathing difficulties, narrowed airways which can be widened by using an inhaler
How does living next to a main road cause respiratory diseases
Living near busy road means you are exposed to air pollution which can weaken your immune system and cause lung cancer
How does living near a busy road affect development
May be too dangerous to go outside so lack of exercise or lack of socialisation with friends.
Noise pollution from cars can cause a lack of sleep which can lead to stress and lack of concentration with work.
How does poor housing conditions cause respiratory disorders
Overcrowded housing, lack of heating and poor ventilation can lead to dampness and mould which can cause asthma etc

Poor housing conditions can cause stress which raises blood pressure, this can cause damage to artery walls which leads to blood clots
Low income areas usually have ready made meals which are high in fat/sugar which can lead to CHD
Also Low income areas usually have a lack of green areas which means a lack of exercise

Poor housing conditions can cause stress which leads to lack of sleep and cause depression or anxiety

A group of lung diseases which cause coughing and wheezing
