What is anti discriminatory practice
Ensuring that care needs of service users are met regardless of their age, race,gender, religion or background
What is discrimination
Treating someone unfairly or unequally or judging them because of who they are
What is direct and indirect discrimination
Direct- treating someone unfairly due to their characteristics, eg, harassment, victimisation
Indirect- organisations policies treat some people worse than others, eg, maternity discrimination
What is the equality act 2010
Prevents discrimination of

What is human rights act 1996
Gurantees individuals rights to;
- education

- security
- freedom of speech
- freedom of expression
- free from slavery
How does anti discriminatory training help people
Minimises conflict - it can be used to identify needs of service user and ensure they are met
Promote understanding of diversity - used to explain the benefits of working with someone who has disability
Promotes inclusivity
Understanding of individual care needs
