  • Modifies a verb, adjective or adverb
  • Tells us; how, when, where, why and how long
  • “With a smiling face, he accepted the reward” = HOW
  • “Clare found her football behind the shed” = WHERE

  • An action + linking verb (i.e must, will, is, has)
