Does a CFI Certificate expire?
No, the certificate itself does not expire, but if the CFI does not maintain the Recency requirements within the required time, they will fall out of Currency & be unable to excersize CFI priviledges.

How will you sign a students logbook after giving ground or flight instruction?
Not every item, just the signature.

After completing the Recency of Experience requirement to maintain CFI Currency, how will you notify the FAA?
Submit Form 8710 via IACRA
After completing a FIRC (Flight Instructor Refresher Course) what are the next steps to maintaining your currency?
- Submit form 8710 via IACRA
- Show FSDO (Airmen Certification Representative) your FIRC grad cert, FTN, & photo ID
- Alternatively, pay the FIRC provider to do step 2 for you online (GLEIM, AOPA, etc)
What happens if you complete the FIRC prior to the 3 months before the 24 cal month?
You will have a new Recency of Experience date that begins from the month you submitted the IACRA form
You have 3 months to submit the IACRA form beginning from the date you received your FIRC graduation certificate
What are all of the CFI Currency Options?
- Practical test
- Activity based - at least 5 applicants, 80% first attempt pass rate
- Company Checkairmen or Cheif Pilot
- FIRC (3 month grace period)
- FAA Wings Proficiency Program

What is required in order for a current CFI to provide training for Initial CFI Candidates?
- Activity Based - 5 applicants with an 80% first try pass rate in the previous 24 cal mon
OR - Complete a Flight Instructor Enhanced Qualification Training Program (FIEQTP)
AND - Have held a CFI rating for at least 24 cal mon.
