Endo: Radiology Flashcards
Is a procedure that uses nuclear medicine imaging to evaluate the thyroid functions
Thyroid scan
Have been shown to have predictive value for determining the probability of malignancy in thyroid nodules
Doppler imaging
Low TSH level would be an indication for thyroid which is otherwise not useful in the evaluation of thyroid nodules
Scintigraphy
Produces an image of the thyroid
Thyroid scan
Measures thyroid function without imaging
Radio iodine uptake test
Used to evaluate patients with thyroid cancer
Whole body thyroid scan
Thyroid nodule with a much higher uptake radioactive iodine than the surrounding parenchyma
Hot nodule
Thyroid nodule with a much lower uptake radioactive iodine than the surrounding parenchyma
Cold nodule
Standard for interrogating the parathyroid glands
High frequency 12 or 15 MHz transducers
Primary imaging modalities for pancreas
Ultz & CT scan
Is the primary imaging method for evaluating adrenal disorder
CT scan
Most useful as an alternative to CT in patients who cannot tolerate intravenous iodinated contrast and when confirming hemorrhage
MRI
Gold standard for pituitary gland testing
MRI
