1.5kg BCF (HALON)

A

S = Red plastic disc is intact in rear of handle
O = PASS (push up, aim, squeeze, sweep), on electrical and flammable liquid fires (also fabric and paper), all materials/embers should be soaked, minimum of 10 secs use
P = 60 degrees of vertical, 1.5-2m, don PPE, distance from fluid fires, don’t touch live wires, not as effective on burning metal fires (class D), fumes dangerous, in FD oxygen mask should be at 100%, avoid getting too close to fluid fires

ESSEX PPE

A

S = tamper prevention integrity seal is intact, humidity indicator is blue in colour, if humidity indicator pink in colour - tell CSM and FC
O = remove seal, remove from bag (slide latch), cylinders pointed away, snap (oxygen hissing should be heard for 2 mins), prayer hands, don promptly (remove hair and jewellery to seal), green light in hood, 15 mins use, red light / deflating take off, take off away from fire, put in aft lavatory, brush oxygen out of hair
P = ensure hood sealed, take off when hood is collapsing or red light. lav locked and monitored, cabin log

WASTE BIN EXTINGUISHER (airbus)

A

S = engineering
O = heat activated nozzles release non-toxic freon gas
P = block lav after use, nozzle tips change to silver after use, temp sensitive indicator goes from silver to black after use

EROS (brass outlet and yellow band)

A

S = Pressure gauge needle in the red band
O = squeeze red grasp, fit and release, flick red switch up for normal oxygen and down for 100% oxygen, turn dial for emergency positive oxygen flow, fit mask into brass outlet, shut off valve fully and then half turn back, 15 mins use,
P = avoid bumping/dropping, avoid contact with oil and grease, remoke makeup from patient, secure cylinder, when moving fit strap across body, use FD oxygen last (captains approval)

A

Physicians Kit

A

S = present and sealed, expiry date checked (log in cabin log if expired), blue metal seal through zipper and handles (if not redo with yellow seal and do cabin log and intelex including serial number of yellow seal)
O = opened only by CSM (they unlock prior to boarding and lock after passenger disembarkation)
P = has sharps container, don’t leave unattended, notify captain asap, reseal with yellow seals (do intelex report with serial numbers of yellow seals, passenger number and booking ref number), physicians report completed by doctor (give copy to customer), s8 drug register if morphine given, log use in cabin log, complete medlink patch checklist if medlink contacted, infant panadol can be given when requested, ventolin, nitroingual pumpspray, claratyne, glutose and epipens don’t need doctor (CSM open and medlink permission for nitro pump), only refurbished in sydney

A

S = present, green tick in status indicator window (if none - enginering to replace or use and record in tech log)
O = only trained crew to use
P = patient on hard flat surface, patient not toucing metal or another person, not in water, pads not over pacemakers, remove medical patches and jewellery, oxygen mask and tubing 1m from patient, stand clear when shocking
