What is the ditching impact drill?

A

Door primary:

  1. Commence initial ditching commands, fit lifejacket
  2. Check door/exit safe to open
  3. Open door/exit
  4. Ensure correct inflation
  5. Direct passengers
  6. Take torch, check your area, assist other areas
  7. Ensure beacon taken
  8. Evacuate
  9. Door unusable - remain, block, redirect and reassess

Door assist:

  1. Commence initial ditching commands, fit lifejacket
  2. Resume role of incapacitated primary
  3. Establish even flow of passengers to sliderafts/rafts
  4. When passenger flow established - board slideraft/raft
  5. Assist in slideraft/raft

What is the ditching evacuation prep?

A
  1. Captain briefs CSM
  2. CSM briefs CC (grab Ditching Preparation Drill Sheet)
  3. CC move to demonstration positions (if PA unserviceable: give individual briefing in your zone with megaphone, BRACE will be ordered by flashing the seatbelt sign)
  4. Captain PA
  5. CSM PA (fit lifejackets, remove sharp and loose objects, stowing PEDs)
  6. Secure galleys and stow loose items / equipment
  7. Check all doors ARMED unless otherwise direct by captain, distribute heavy clothing and blankets, stow drinks
  8. Review briefing cards with passengers if necessary (after area secure, report to CSM)
  9. CSM reports to captain when cabin prep is complete
  10. FC PA: Attention, CC resume your seats immediately
  11. 30 seconds before touchdown PA: BRACE BRACE BRACE
