When working near an open hoistway door, personnel must have what safety measure in place?

The following procedures should be attempted to move the elevator while the power remains on:

- Lobby call button
- Activate FF service phase 1 in lobby or fire control room.
- Instruct occupants to engage and disengage emergency call button several times(advise them that a loud bell will sound)
- Instruct occupants to engage door open button and floor button. While at the same time having a ff on the closest floor landing to the stalled car press and hold hallway call button.
If emergency stop button is activated then these procedures wont work, occupants must be instructed to deactivate.
Turning power off to an Elevator

Send a member to the elevator machine room and remove power from the main line disconnect.
Once power is removed, the disconnect must remain off until a mechanic restores it. Tag and Padlock breaker to ensure power stays off.
