Elbow primary structures Flashcards
This ligament surrounds the head of the radius and allows it to rotate and retain contact with the radial notch of the ulna
annular ligament
This ligament stretches from the RCL and attaches above the upper edge of the coronoid fossa, extending to just below the coronoid process
anterior ligament
This is a triangular space at the anterior elbow
cubital fossa
The cubital fossa is bordered by these structures
- brachioradialis
- pronator teres
- brachialis
What is the cubital tunnel?
space formed by
- UCL
- flexor carpi ulnaris
- medial head of triceps
- medial epicondyle
The cubital tunnel is smallest in this position
elbow in full flexion
What is the main bursa of the elbow?
olecranon bursa
Olecranon bursitis
commonly inflamed with direct trauma bc of its superficial position
RCL function
prevents elbow adduction
reinforces radiohumeral articulation
UCL function
prevents excessive abduction of elbow jt
