Elbow - muscles (supination and pronation) Flashcards
Name the 2 elbow pronator muscles and identify where they are located on the human body (if unable check on Complete Anatomy)
Pronator quadratus
Pronator teres
What is the Origin, Insertion and Innervation of the pronator quadratus muscle?
o Origin – Anterior aspect of distal ¼ of ulna
o Insertion – Anterior aspect of distal ¼ of radius
o Innervation – Anterior antebrachial interosseous nerve (C7-C8)
What is the Origin, Insertion and Innervation of the pronator teres muscle?
o Origin – Medial supracondylar ridge of humerus, via the common flexor tendon, and medial aspect of coronoid process of ulna
o Insertion – Middle 1/3 of anterolateral aspect of radius
o Innervation – Median nerve (C6-C7)
Name the 3 elbow supinator muscles and identify where they are located on the human body (if unable check on Complete Anatomy)
Long head of biceps brachii
Short head of biceps brachii
Supinator
What is the Origin, Insertion and Innervation of the long head of biceps brachii muscle?
Origin – Supraglenoid tubercle of scapula
Insertion – Radial tuberosity and antebrachial fascia
Innervation – Musculocutaneous nerve (C5-C6)
What is the Origin, Insertion and Innervation of the short head of biceps brachii muscle?
Origin – Apex of coracoid process of scapula
Insertion – Radial tuberosity and antebrachial fascia
Innervation – Musculocutaneous nerve (C5-C6)
What is the Origin, Insertion and Innervation of the supinator muscle?
o Origin – Lateral epicondyle of humerus, supinator crest and supinator fossa of ulna
o Insertion – Anterior, lateral, and posterior aspects of proximal 1/3 of radius
o Innervation – Posterior antebrachial interosseous nerve (C6-C7)
