Dyspareunia
Painful intercourse experience for females
Scar tissue from endometriosis (endometrial tissue growth) develops
Endometriosis

S/S: severe bleeding, painful urination, dyspareunia
PT: TENS (control pain)

more common with early sexual activity
can only be seen with PAP smear

S/S: frequent micturation (urinating)

High estrogen levels

Pelvic floor incompetence
Muscle weakness due to stretching or lack of use
S/S: Incontinence (uncontrollable urine leak)
- stress: cough, sneeze, laugh
- urge/overflow: can’t empty bladder fully
PT: kegel exercises
Uterine Prolapse
herniation of uterus into or beyond vagina
S/S: LBP, dyspareunia
PT: pelvic floor strength ex
Breast Cancer
2nd most common cancer in females
S/S: palpable lump, inversion of nipple, pitting/redness of skin
PT: lymphedema control
PT intervention for Gestational Diabetes & LBP (pregnancy related)
Gestational Diabetes: ex
LBP (caused by altered COG): avoid rectus abdominis ex, rest in L-sidelying position
Menopause
Decrease estrogen
Increase risk of osteoporosis - more fractures
PT: WBing ex
Prostatitis
bacterial infx causing narrowing of urethra
Pundendal Nerve Entrapment
impingement of nerve causes muscle spasms
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia
Noncancerous, nonmalignant enlargement (hyperplasia)
May compress the urethra
S/S: slow urine flow, urge incontinence, nocturia (urinate at night frequently)
Prostate Cancer

S/S: hematuria (blood in urine, freq urination
