Downing Cells Test 1 Flashcards
Anterior Pituitary
adenohypophysis, pars tuberalis, distalis, intermedia
Posterior Pituitary
Neurohypophysis, Pars nervosa, infundibulum
Acidophils
anterior pituitary, somatotrophs and mammotrophs
Basophils
B flat: blue produce FSH, LH, ACTH, TSH
Somatotrophs
produce GH, Acidophil cells
Mammotrophs
Produce prolactin
Thyrotrophs
Produce TSH
Gonadotrophs
Secrete FSH, LH
Corticotrophs
Secrete ACTH
Posterior Pituitary
Secretes Oxytocin and ADH
Oxytocin
responsible for milk ejection
Prolactin
responsible for milk secretion/ production, from the mamotrophs in the anterior pituitary
Pineal Gland
Produces Melatonin, brain sand
Parafollicular cells
produce calcitonin, are located right outside the thyroid follicles.
Chief (principal) cells
eosinophilic cytoplasm, produce parathyroid hormone
