Q

When is the purpose of the door vent panel?

A

To prevent pressurization to an unsafe level if the door is not fully closed, latched and locked. Initial rotation of the door handle opens the vent to equalize the cabin pressure with ambient pressure. At low press diff the door can be opened but at high pressure diff the handle can only be partially opened.
At very high differential the vent cannot be opened.

Q

What is the purpose of the door flight lock?

A

To prevent door opening at airspeeds greater than 80 kts. Allows limited door handle rotation, sufficiently to open the door vent but not to open the door.
If electrical power is removed or fails, the flight lock is springloaded to the unlocked position.

Q

Describe what happens on the flight deck when the correct code is entered for the flight deck door?

A

When the correct code is entered, the AUTO UNLK light illuminates on the aisle stand. The door will open after a pre-determined time delay. This is to gain access in case of pilot incapacitation. If there is no response form the pilots in 20 seconds a chime will sound in the cockpit. After another 20 seconds the AUTO UNLK flashes and the aural alert sounds continuously, this means that the door will be unlocked 20 seconds later for a period of 5 seconds.

17
Q

What happens if the pilots uses the reject function for the flight deck door?

A

If the pilots use the DENY switch, the keypad rejects entry requests for a 5 minutes and a red light will illuminate on the keypad.

18
Q

What does the LOCK FAIL indication mean for the flight deck door?

A

The LOCK FAIL light means that the Flight Deck Access System Switch next to the door post has failed or is in the OFF position and the door is unlocked.

19
Q

What is the power source for the FWD and AFT cargo doors?

A

Both the FWD and AFT cargo doors are normally electrically operated via the Ground Handling bus which can be powered by the APU or EXT PWR 1

20
Q

What action is required if the FWD or AFT cargo doors becomes unsecured in-flight?

A

The FWD and AFT doors are not plug-type doors and if they are unsecured in flight, reduce pressure diff to prevent structural problems.

21
Q

What action is required if the FWD ACCESS- and E/E ACCESS doors becomes unsecured in-flight?

A

If they become unsecured during flight you can continue normal operation as long as cabin pressurization is normal.
