2) related alterations (e.g.. affect memory, perception, cognition, behaviour)

psych: conflicting desires in an abused child split into different personalities, DID is multiple selves in the same body
bio: childhood trauma reduces volume of hippocampus and amygdala
social: dissociation is the result of role play and unethical therapies
