Motor or sensory language disturbances
APHASIA
Failure to recognize objects visually in the absence of a defect in visual acuity
Visual agnosia
Can see object but cannot identify it
Receptive disability
Inability to recognize objects by touch when tactile proprioceptive senses are intact
Lesion in supramarginal gyrus
Tactile agnosia
Failure to recognize what the patient hears with intact hearing
Lesion in B.A. 22
Auditory agnosia
Patient hears but does not understand
Wernicke’s or Sensory aphasia
Patient knows what he wants to say but speech is slow, detecting many words
Broca’s or Motor aphasia
Inability to carry out learned or purposive movements in response to stimuli that normally elicit them
APHAXIA - “ Motor disability”
Failure to recognize stimuli perceived by the senses
AGNOSIA
