Anatomical SNUFF BOX
Lateral - tendons of EPB and ABDUCTOR PL
Medial - tendon of EPL
Floor - SCAPHOID & TRAPEZIUM
RADIAL ARTERY; styloid process of radius; base of 1st metacarpal can be palpated
Exhibit pain and tenderness localized over the anatomical snuffbox after a fall on the outstretched hand
SCAPHOID FRACTURE
Most commonly dislocated carpal bone; typically dislocated anteriorly; may cause a CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME
LUNATE FRACTURE
A fracture of the base of the first metacarpal bone; thumb is forcefully abducted
BENNETT’S FRACTURE
Necks of the second and third metacarpals
BOXER’s fracture
Burning pain/ “pain & needles” along the distribution of MEDIAN NERVE
Thickening of the synovial sheaths of the flexor tendons or arthritic changes of the carpal bones
CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME
Localized thickening and contracture of the palmar apeneurosis
Starts-ring finger draws into the palm then little finger FLEXION OF PROXIMAL INTERPHALANGEAL
DUPUYTREN’S CONTRACTURE
A patient complains of sensory loss over the anterior and posterior surfaces of the medial one and one half fingers. What nerve is injured?
