Indications - Dimenhydrinate
A
Nausea and vomiting as a result of vertigo, motion sickness, pregnancy, narcotic administration, and alcohol withdrawal.

Adult Dosage - Dimenhydrinate
A
50mg SIVP/IM q4 hrs (dilute in normal saline to 10mL) Patient’s over 65 give 25mg, q15 to max 50mg

Contraindications - Dimenhydrinate
A
- Hypersensitivity to dimenhydrinate, diphenhydramine, or propylene glycol
- Narrow angle glaucoma
- Patients who have ingested large quantities of depressants (including alcohol)

What is the preferred site for giving dimenhydrinate IM?
A
Lateral quad (vastus lateralis)
