1g/kg PO/OG/NG

Standard adult dose is 50g. Should be given within approx 60min of ingestion to be effective. Some toxic ingestions may required repeat doses. Complications may include aspiration.

Contraindications for Activated Charcoal w/Sorbitol

• Gastrointestinal obstruction (partial or complete)
• Actively vomiting
• Uncooperative patient
• GCS less than 15 and unsecured airway
• Suspected / known caustic ingestion
