What are the indications for acetaminophen use?

• Fever greater than 38c
• Mild pain

Adult dosing for acetaminophen?

Answer 2

975 mg PO (do not repeat)

Do not administer if the patient has taken maximum dose of 975mg within the last 4hrs. If they have taken less than the maximum within 4hrs, then give them enough to obtain the maximum dose

Question 3

Pediatric dosing for acetaminophen?

Answer 3

10 to 15mg/kg/ PO (do not repeat dose)

Do not administer if the patient has taken the maximum 15mg/kg within the past 4hrs. If they have received less than the max dose within 4hrs, then top them up to the maximum dose

List the contraindications to acetaminophen use.

• Active liver disease/hepatic impairment
