Digestive/Respiratory Systems Gross Anatomy [Lab Practical 2] Flashcards
Name the salivary glands
- Parotid gland
- Submaxillary gland in cat = Submandibular in human
- Sublingual gland
- Molar gland
There are 3 glands in human (no molar gland) & 4 glands in cat
Name the different teeth
Incisors
Canines
Premolars (adult only)
Molars
What is the Eustachian Tube also referred to as?
Pharyngotympanic tube
What are the peritoneums?
Visceral Peritoneum covers the external surfaces of most digestive organs and is continuous with the;
Parietal Peritoneum that lines the body wall
What is a mesentery?
A mesentery is a double layer of peritoneum–a sheet of two serous membranes fused back to back–that extends to the digestive organs from the body wall; they provide routes for blood vessels, lymphatics, and nerves to reach the digestive viscera; hold organs in place; and store fat
What is the greater omentum broken down into?
Omental bursa – the inner pocket of the greater omentum
Gastrosplenic ligament – connects stomach to spleen
What is the lesser omentum broken down into?
Gastrohepatic ligament – connects liver to stomach
Hepatoduodenal ligament – connects liver and duodenum
What is the order to the mesenteries under the diaphragm?
Round Ligament – white part
Falciform Ligament – clear part
Coronary Ligament – deep part
Name the parts of the Stomach
Fundus = top part Body = middle part Pylorous = bottom part Rugae = little folds inside the stomach Pyloric Sphincter = Bottom opening/gate Cardiac Sphincter = Top opening/gate
Name the parts of the Small Intestine
Plicae Circulares = “the circular folds”; deep, permanent folds of the mucosa and submucosa; force chyme to spiral through the lumen, slowing its movement and allowing time for full nutrient absorption
Duodenum
Jejunum
Ileum
Name the parts of the Large Intestine or Colon
Ileocecal valve -- connects ileum to cecum Cecum Ascending Colon Transverse Colon Descending Colon Rectum
Name the parts of the Liver
Gall bladder = the typically green structure
Hepatic duct = coming off the liver
Cystic duct = below the liver
Common bile duct
Name the parts of the Pancreas
Pancreatic Duct - generally fuses with the bile duct just as it enters the duodenum
Ampulla of Vater
Name the parts of the Larynx
The Larynx is the "Voice box" Epiglottis Vocal chords Thyroid Cartilage Cricoid Cartilage
Name the parts of the Pleura
Visceral Pleura – covers the external lung surface
Parietal Pleura – covers the thoracic wall superior face of the diaphragm. It continues around the heart and between the lungs, forming the lateral walls of the mediastinal enclosure and snug enclosing the lung root
