A

It is tripped by the overspeed governor at 660 rpm. When tripped, it isolates the combustion air source to the turbocharger and therefore shuts down the engine. The overspeed trip is one of the emergency run trips and is the only direct mechanical automatic trip that will trip the DG during a loss of control air.

The essential DG HVAC will start automatically upon start of the associated diesel generator (the units are started by the ESFAS load sequencer 25 seconds after DG starts).
• The DG control equipment room essential AHU is slaved to the essential exhaust fan and will start when the exhaust fan starts.
• Both units will continue to run until the Diesel Generator is shutdown and their respective room temperature is < 110°F.

A

The ‘A’ DG must be secured. Since there is an emergency run signal locked in, the DG cannot be stopped from the control room. It must be emergency stopped locally. Direct the area operator to press the emergency stop pushbutton on the local panel.
