What is Delegated legislation ?
When law is made by someone other than parliament, usually done through parenting act
What are statutory instruments ?
These are laws or pieces of legislation that go through the law making process
What are by laws ?
These can be made by local authorities to cover matters in their own area
What are some examples of by laws ?
Traffic & Parking controls
Banning street drinking in certain areas
Banning Dogs from certain beaches
What are court controls ?
They challenge delegated legislation on the grounds that it it ultra varies
What is ultra varies ?
‘Beyond all powers’
What is Affermative resolution ?
Statutory instruments containing regulations or laid before parliament in draft
What is Super-Affirmative resolution ?
2 stage procedure during which there is an opportunity for the draft order to be revised by the minister
What is negative resolution ?
Regulations laid before parliament and must be revoked in certain circumstances
What are Scrutiny committees ?
Commities that influence policies and decisions made by the council and other organisations involved in delivering public services
What are questions in parliament ?
A question put forward formally to a government minister about a matter they are responsible for
