What is someone who fails to meet the standards of a reasonable person ?

What case is an example of an omission, and what happened ?
R V Miller 1983, the defendant had been squatting in a house, lit a cigarette and fell asleep when he woke up the house was on fire and all he did was fall asleep
What case is an example of state of affairs , and what happened ?
R V Larsonneur 1933, the defendant a French woman was deported from Ireland to England , upon arrival she was charged with being an illegal alien
