Cut Out A Pass
To intercept or block a pass before it reaches its intended target.
Cut Passing Lanes
To position yourself in a way that blocks or disrupts the passing options of the opposing player.
Mark (someone) Tight
To closely follow and defend against an opposing player, staying close to them to prevent them from receiving the ball, making a pass, or having space to move freely.
Track The Runner
To follow an opposing player who is making a run, staying close to them to prevent them from receiving the ball or getting into a dangerous position.
Mark (someone) Loose
To defend an opposing player with less intensity or distance, allowing them more freedom to move.
Clear It
To kick or head the ball away from your defensive area, usually to remove immediate danger and get the ball out of the penalty box or defensive third.
Goal-Side
Positioning yourself between an opponent and the goal, usually as a defender.
