What is the key legislation for Data protection
General Data Protection regulation 2018 (GDPR)
What is GDPR about
its key purpose is protecting peoples personal data. This is info that allows a person to be identified; name, address, age, username etc.
Who does GDPR apply to ?
Controllers and processors. e.g employers and employees
what are the 7 principles for GDRP
1.lawfullness, fair and Transparent
2.legit purpose
3limted to what’s needed
4.accurate and up to date
5.not kept longer than necessary
6.processed securely
7.accountablilty shown from controller
How do I ensure I comply with the data protection act when handling landlords etcs data
What is the punishment for breaching GDPR
maximum fine of 17.5 million or 4% of annual turnover, whichever is greater.
(the penalty may be less off course, this is worst case)
How do I secure the security of the databases I look after
- one drive
- limted access
- password protected
- regaular updated to ensure accuracy
- dont keep hold of into no longer needed
