What organisms can cause dacryoadenitis?
s. aureus, s. pneumo, pseudo, actinomyces, n. gonorrhoese, measles, mumps, influenza, fungi
What cause minimal swelling of dacryoadenitis?
measles, mumps, influenza
What is the clinical presenation of dacryoadenitis?
red swollen eye systemic symptoms S shaped eye erythema of bulbar Tender eyelid preauricular lymph node
What do you dx dacryoadenitis?
CT scan
What is the treatment of dacryoadenitis?
Cephalexin 250mg to 1 gm q 6 hours
OR
Clindamycin 150-300 mg q 6 hours
Who gets dacryocystitis?
infants, young adults (30s) and adults >65 yo
What causes dacryocystitis?
congenital obstruction of lacrimal duct, infection of lacrimal sac
What organisms cause dacryocystitis?
s. aureus, s. pneumo, h. flu
What is the clinical presentation of dacryocystitis?
rapid erythema and swelling of lacrimal gland, tearing of eye,
What can dacryocystitis cause?
orbital cellulitis, abscess
How do you treat dacryocystitis?
Cephalexin 250mg-1 gram qid
OR
Clindamycin 150-300 mg qid
