increase in meibomian gland lipid secretion

What is the clinical presentation of blepharitis?
A
red itchy eye, gritty burning sensation, increased tears, eyelid swelling/erythema, crusting and matting of eyelashes, light sensitivity, blurred vision

How do you tx?
A
warm compress, massage lid

What are some topical tx?
A
azithromycin (Azasite) x 4 wks

Who gets the oral ABX?
A
recalcitrant cases, severe
azithromycin 5 d
doxy or tetra x 2-4 wks
