Parts of the Berlin wall are being allowed to stand as historic monuments.
While in Washington, D.C., we visited a number of historical monuments.
Monument: 1-A structure designed or built to honor sb2- an object, esp. large and made of stone, built to remember and show respect for a person or group of people, or a special place made for this purpose
3- an old building or place that is an important part of a country’s history:
A person related to you and lived a long time ago
