Cranial Nerve V Flashcards
trigeminal nerve
somatosensory for head
motor to mm of mastication
ophthalmic nerve
V1 - sensory
maxillary nerve
V2 - sensory
mandibular nerve
V3 - motor and sensory
primary afferents
trigeminal ganglion
also: mesencephalinc nuclei (proprioception)
prethalamic relax
spinal nucleus of 5
pontine nucleus of 5
VPM
trigeminal destination to thalamus
VTT
ventral trigeminothalamic tract
runs right next to medial lemniscus
anterior spinal artery
to both VTT and medial lemniscus affected
trigeminal motor nucleus
muscles of mastication
only with V3
jaw jerk reflex
tensor tympani
innervation from trigeminal
UMN to trigeminal
area 4 - lateral portions
corticobulbar descend genu of internal capsule
innervate trigeminal motor nucleus bilaterally
lesion superior to brainstem
not produce paralysis of masticatory muscles
nucleus ambiguus
LMN to 9 and 10
palatoglossal
look at this in DSA
deviation of uvula to contralateral side
